Puffy Cream Cheese- A fluffy, white, whipped cream cheese filling that will satisfy your sweet tooth. The puffy cream cheese filling is the most popular filling for our sweet crepes.

What is Farmers Cheese? If you ask any Slavic person they will tell you! It such a popular item and a staple in most Slavic kitchens. It is called “tvorog” in Russian. There are many dishes that can be made with farmers cheese and we serve many of them at Crepes Tea House. The sweet dishes are sirniki, nalesniki, and sweet vareniki. And some savory dishes with farmers cheese are khachapuri, chiburekki, and salty vareniki. Farmers cheese can come sweet or salty.

To explain what crepes are we have to start all the way from the beginning. Legend has it that a housewife in Brittany, France, accidentally spilled porridge onto a hot surface, and through this mistake came the discovery of the delicious, crispy crepe. In fact, pelmeni are considered the heart of the Russian cuisine. The exact place of origin is still up for debate, but Ural and Siberia both maintain strong claims.

Kvass is an extremely popular drink in the Slavic countries. It is so popular that there are stands and vendors all over the sidewalks where you can buy kvass on the go. (Like shown in the picture) Kvass is a traditional fermented Slavic beverage made from rye bread. The color of the bread used contributes to the color of the resulting drink. It is non-alcoholic but many people say that it tastes somewhat like beer. Some others compare it to kombucha.
